I have been doing hair for 30 years. One of the key points in my career came when I first attended a hands-on class, Principle Base Design Cutting. During the class, I had an ah-ha! moment - I realized how much I loved learning new things and how important furthering my education would always be. I worked for 14 years, during which I became a Redken Colour Specialist. Colour was just starting to become more important to the industry than perms. It was a very gradual change (foils were just starting). Can you imagine - I had to talk my clients out of using the old highlighting hat and trying foils?!!!!!
To this day, my favourite part of the work is colour and foils! I went from perms to highlights with a cap and now - Balayage!
My favourite part of the job is the social interaction. Working at Shear Beauty is fun! Everyone is respectful and there are a lot of jokes. I have worked in Montreal, Barrie, and 6 different salons in Fredericton, so I have experienced many different salon environments! At Shear Beauty I am relaxed.
